Who can I complain to?
There are different organisations involved in managing complaints about medical practitioners or students. We want to help you identify the right organisation for you, so your concern can be addressed as quickly as possible.
The Medical Council of NSW is the right place to make a complaint if you are concerned about a medical practitioner in NSW behaving in a way that could pose a risk to you, other patients or members of the public. The Council works with the Health Care Complaints Commission and makes a joint decision about which agency is best suited to managing your complaint depending on the issues that have been identified. The Commission and the Council have different legal powers. We will tell you who is managing your complaint after it has been jointly assessed.
