What happens if the HCCC manages the complaint?
Following the joint assessment, the Health Care Complaints Commission may manage your complaint. The Commission can facilitate a meeting to try and resolve your complaint. For serious complaints, the Commission may investigate and prosecute the complaint. The Commission will tell you who is dealing with your complaint after it and the Council jointly assess it. You can make a complaint about:
- a person who is pretending to be a registered health practitioner when they are not – to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency www.ahpra.gov.au or call 1300 419 495
- non-registered health practitioners such as a dietician or massage therapist to the Health Care Complaints Commission www.hccc.nsw.gov.au or call 1800 043 159.
