Answer: It is an offence for a person who is not a registered medical practitioner to advertise or hold himself or herself out to be qualified or willing to practise medicine, or to give or perform any medical or surgical advice, service, attendance or operation (section 117 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (NSW). If you have knowledge of a person falsely holding themselves out as a registered doctor, you are encouraged to pass that information on to the Medical Council, AHPRA or the Medical Board of Australia which has the power to prosecute such individuals.
